لَبِئْسَ مَا قَدَّمَتْ لَهُمْ أَنفُسُهُمْ أَن سَخِطَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ

“Wretched is that which their souls have put forth, that they would incur the wrath of Allah upon themselves.”

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ اتَّبَعُوا مَا أَسْخَطَ اللَّهَ وَكَرِهُوا رِضْوَانَهُ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَالَهُمْ

“That is because they followed that which angered Allah and disliked [what earns] His pleasure, so He rendered worthless their deeds.”
