قَٰتِلُواْ ٱلَّذِينَ يَلُونَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡكُفَّارِ وَلۡيَجِدُواْ فِيكُمۡ غِلۡظَةٗۚ“O you who have believed, fight those adjacent to you of the disbelievers and let them find in you harshness. And know that Allah is with the righteous”

صَرَفَهُ عَنْهُ وَجَعَلَهُ يُعْرِضُ عَنْهُ
کسی کو کسی چیز سے پھیر دینا

Quranic witness · shāhid
۞سَيَقُولُ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَا وَلَّىٰهُمۡ عَن قِبۡلَتِهِمُ ٱلَّتِي كَانُواْ عَلَيۡهَاۚ“The foolish among the people will say, "What has turned them away from their qiblah, which they used to face?" Say, "To Allah belongs the east and the west. He guides whom He wills to a straight path”

اسْتَقْبَلَهَا بِوَجْهِهِ
رخ کو کسی طرف پھیرنا
To turn the face in the direction
Quranic witness · shāhid
فَلَنُوَلِّيَنَّكَ قِبۡلَةٗ تَرۡضَىٰهَاۚ فَوَلِّ وَجۡهَكَ شَطۡرَ ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ ٱلۡحَرَامِۚ“We have certainly seen the turning of your face, [O Muhammad], toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased. So turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram. And wherever you [believers] are, turn your faces toward it [in prayer]. Indeed, those who have been given the Scripture well know that it is the truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do”

أَظْهَرَ الدُّبُرَ، هَرَبَ
پیٹھ دکھانا
To turn one's back (in battle)
Quranic witness · shāhid
إِذَا لَقِيتُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ زَحۡفٗا فَلَا تُوَلُّوهُمُ ٱلۡأَدۡبَارَ“O you who have believed, when you meet those who disbelieve advancing [for battle], do not turn to them your backs [in flight]”

فَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنۡهُمۡ وَقَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ لَقَدۡ أَبۡلَغۡتُكُمۡ رِسَالَةَ رَبِّي وَنَصَحۡتُ لَكُمۡ“And he turned away from them and said, "O my people, I had certainly conveyed to you the message of my Lord and advised you, but you do not like advisors”

کسی کو دوست بنانا
To love, take for friend
Quranic witness · shāhid
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَتَوَلَّوۡاْ قَوۡمًا غَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ“O you who have believed, do not make allies of a people with whom Allah has become angry. They have despaired of [reward in] the Hereafter just as the disbelievers have despaired of [meeting] the inhabitants of the graves”

قَامَ بِهِ، النَّصِيرُ، الرَّبُّ المَالِكُ (مِن أَسْمَاءِ اللَّهِ الحُسنى)
قائم رہنے والا، مددگار، مالک
A protector, a guardian, a friend, ally
Quranic witness · shāhid
وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِيّٖ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ“Do you not know that to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and [that] you have not besides Allah any protector or any helper”

كُلُّ مَن وَلِيَ أَمْرًا أَوْ قَامَ بِهِ؛ القَرِيبُ مِنَ العَصَبَةِ؛ العَبْدُ؛ البِطَانَةُ وَالأَعْوَانُ
مولا، مالک، سرپرست؛ قریبی رشتہ دار
Master, lord; protector; heir; a client
Quranic witness · shāhid
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَوۡلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ“That is because Allah is the protector of those who have believed and because the disbelievers have no protector”
